Merchant's Exchange Building | 05:33AM Nov 12, 2007

This beautiful materpiece of Greek Revival architecture was designed in the early 1830's by William Strickland, who also designed the steeple of Independence Hall in 1828. The Philadelphia Exchange Company, the oldest stock exchange in the country, opened its doors here in 1834. Business transactions took place in the luxurious Exchange Room, with its marbe columns and mosaic floor until the American Cival War.
